Dwarven Village
History

Dwarven Village, high up in the snow-covered Spine Mountains, is the place where the Dwarves retired after the Battle of Mlan, escaping through a subterranean network of tunnels from the merciless Orcs who had set their greedy eyes not only on their wealth, but had wanted to enslave the whole Dwarven race. With that the Dwarven Kingdom as a political unit had come to an end, but administration was seamlessly taken over by the Elder Council consisting of the leaders of the six biggest guilds.
The Gray Pillar Guild had already operated the Coal Mine and the Mithril Mines in the Spine Mountains, plus the Strip Mine, where the tunnels from Mlan ended. After their arrival, the refugees built a village for themselves near the Strip Mine, boarding up the tunnels behind them. After everybody had settled in, the Strip Mine became the place where young Dwarves undergo their first training, then being set to increasingly difficult tasks by the Guild Elders and other established members of Dwarven society.
In the meantime the Orc Kingdom has fallen too, their former capital, Rion, having been destroyed by the Human armies and the remaining Orcs retiring to the Immortal Plateau. Since the Dwarves now have contracts with the Kingdom of Elmore that guarantee them military assistance in case of trouble rising from the Orcs in the west, they can feel moderately safe. There are a few gangs of Utuku Orcs encamped near Dwarven Village, but those are so-called "lesser Orcs", much smaller and less intelligent than the "High Orcs" on the Immortal Plateau. Those gangs, as well as the Goblin Brigands associating with them, can easily be taken care of by young Dwarves in the first years of their apprenticeship.
